The clouds are hovering over London. The leaves are falling and changing color. And the days are getting shorter.
As we enter the final three months of the year, my energy towards the unmet goals I set in January begins to wane.
Anticipating the fresh start of a new year seems so much more exciting.
That’s because new years are chock full of possibility, hope and opportunity. It’s that grass-is-always-greener feeling.
Tell me, do you feel that, too?
If that sounds familiar, I have a challenge for you.
It’s something that other colleagues and peers are pressing me to do to change my approach to the remaining three months in 2017.
It’s about making the most impact with the time you have lying in front of you.
The challenge is two-fold.
First, review your progress from the past nine months and take stock of what you’ve achieved thus far.
Do a deep-dive on your projects, finances, marketing, and sales (or funding) goals. Take stock of the numbers (this usually surprises me!)
Then use these 3 questions to reflect on the qualities of your work:
- What did I expect would happen?
- What exceeded expectations, and why?
- What failed to meet expectations, and why?
Second, set a new target for the remaining 3 months.
Make your target inspiring and uplifting.
Make it something to stretch and push you.
Make it something that would bring immense pride on December 31st, no matter the circumstances ahead of you.
So, do we have a deal?
